WASHINGTON -- In 2009, the Office of Generic Drugs (OGD) will spread the word about generic medicines--safe, substitutable products that, in the midst of national economic struggle, are more in demand than ever before.
"Being able to get low-cost pharmaceuticals has never been more important than it is right now," OGD Director Gary Buehler told the GPhA/FDA conference Oct. 28-30. "We've got to remain on our guard to make sure the products will perform the same as RLDs (Reference Listed Drugs). It has to be a seamless transition; there can't be any difference, and we have to maintain our quality standards."
