As I write this, I'm just back from the ASLRRA gathering in Las Vegas, and quite an affair it was. The exhibit hall was sold out, with about 150 companies from the U.S. and Canada showing off their products and services in 170 booths. The glitter and glitz of Las Vegas complemented the 40 professional sessions to attract folks from the smaller railroad properties to this shortline and regional bazaar in the desert.
Anyone who knows me either in person or through these columns knows I'm a big fan of trade shows and conferences. I think they are a vital part of our industry, giving railroaders and vendors alike a chance to closely inspect the latest in supplier ...
