THIS year's Royal Ascot was surely the best in a decade or more, with top-quality sport throughout the five-day fixture and plenty of outstanding performances that will live long in the memory.
But trust the media to focus on the wrong angles, with all that guff about the raiders from America, Australia, France and Ireland, and their successes. Sure, those foreigners had their moments, and jolly good luck to them, I say, but did nobody notice that no fewer than 13 of the winners were trained in Newmarket? Still, we're used to it here. ...
