Some nine hours after he came out swinging against the media yesterday in defending Schalk Burger against his conviction for eye-gouging, Springbok coach Peter de Villiers had his leash shortened by the South African Rugby Union last night after they released an unconditional apology over his statements on the affair.
It seems that Saru are running out of patience with De Villiers. Oregan Hoskins, the Saru president, was mandated by the Saru management committee to talk to De Villiers this week about his allegations of racism against critics of Ricky Januarie.
