The city of Minneapolis is seeking redevelopment proposals for several small properties, including the former Hollywood Theatre, a Northeast fixture.
The Hollywood operated as a movie theater from its opening in 1935 until it closed in 1987. It's been vacant since then.
The building's distinctive Streamline Moderne design earned a designation as a local historic landmark by the city in 1990. The city bought the property in 1993 and over the years pursued several unsuccessful attempts to redevelop it.
