The increased number of bank robberies in Seattle and within close proximity to the University of Washington campus has prompted UW officials to send a safety alert to students.
The closest robbery happened June 30 at the Bank of America in the 4700 block of University Way Northeast better known as The Ave.
FBI agents are still investigating. Another robbery happened about 4 miles from campus Monday at a Bank of America in Greenwood.
The safety alert sent at 6:09 p.m. Tuesday is the 19th this year to UW students and staff. It was the first safety alert since June 20.
