PORT MORESBY, July 2 Asia Pulse - Environmental groups are outraged billionaire Malaysian owner of Rimbunan Hijau (RH) logging company has been awarded a knighthood for work in Papua New Guinea.
The founder of the giant global conglomerate, Tiong Hiew King, 71, received an honorary knighthood "for services to commerce, the community and charitable organisations in PNG" last month.
But NGOs and environment groups are highly critical of the honour.
The Swiss organisation Bruno Manser Fund dubbed Tiong 'Knight of the Chainsaw'.
