We are officially in recession, and while most people are cutting back on luxury spending, many parents are still prepared to fork out thousands of rands a week to keep their children happy.
A phenomenon in the US and Canada, sending children to "summer camp" is commonplace for those who can afford it. These camps even specialise in areas of specific interest to children, such as science camps or space camps.
In South Africa, few places offer the "summer camp" concept.
