Unite/CPHVA has stated that health and wellbeing groups being piloted in schools across Scotland can be expected to highlight a lack of school nurses.
While welcoming the initiative, which aims to identify staffing requirements to improve the health of school children, Unite/CPHVA professional officer Gavin Fergie stated: 'We still believe that the provision of suitably qualified public health nurses is the core of any successful initiative, and the pilots are likely to highlight the need for more school nurses.'
