A Eugene businessman is breathing through the aid of a ventilator in a Bend hospital after breaking three vertebrae in his neck over the weekend, according to family members.
Andy Laird, 54, who owns Laird Lighting, was riding his mountain bike on a trail along the Fall River near La Pine when he went over a jump and crash-landed.
"It's probably 3,000 people praying for him right now," said Laird's wife, Ruth McCully, speaking from her cell phone Tuesday in the parking lot of Bend's St. Charles Medical Center.
