It's hard to imagine that Eugene existed for more than 100 years without five of the organizations that now shape the town's identity.
Sunday, five of Eugene's most recognizable groups - The Saturday Market, the Oregon Country Fair, the Growers Market, the WOW Hall and White Bird Clinic - will celebrate 40 years of operation. A ceremony for the businesses will be held from noon to 8 p.m., with performers and food booths at the Park Blocks, the location where The Saturday Market has held court for more than 20 years.
"We have been making the right decisions," said Beth Little, Saturday Market general manager. ...
