The Eugene Water & Electric Board has helped more than 1,000 unemployed customers pay their utility bills, but more money is available, EWEB officials said.
Since announcing in March a $4.4 million Community Care initiative for customers struggling financially, the publicly owned utility has provided $244,200 to 1,221 laid-off residential customers in the form of $200 utility bill credits, according to an EWEB news release.
The $200 credit program has $1 million set aside and potentially can benefit 5,000 customers. Unlike other assistance programs, there is no income threshold for applicants, EWEB ...
