There might not be any love lost between Oregon and Boise State in football these days, but in the NCAA West Region Track & Field Championships, a Boise State triple jumper played to the Hayward Field crowd and rode the cheers to a regional title Saturday.
"It's unbelievable," Boise State senior Ryan Grinnell said, after winning with a wind-aided mark of 53 feet, 93/4 inches. "I really wish we could come here more often, like during the regular season, because the crowd is phenomenal.
"It's a great place to compete, and I just had a blast. The crowd, I mean, you just can't get this support at other places. ...
