Ombudsman kept busy as crisis hits home
THE Financial Services Ombudsman has seen a 43pc rise in new complaints made to his office so far this year.
Joe Meade has found in favour of the complainant in 62pc of cases.
In the first half of this year, the ombudsman received 3,876 new complaints, compared with 2,711 in the same period last year.
There was a doubling in the number of complaints about mortgages, with homeowners challenging the penalties being charged for getting out of fixed-rate mortgages forming a large number of these cases.
