Article: AMT picks one of its own to head association staff.(WOODS IS PRESIDENT)

The selection of Douglas K. Woods as president of AMT--The Association for Manufacturing Technology continues the tradition of that organization in recent decades of choosing a top manager with experience in metalworking-equipment companies--as opposed to a career as a trade-association staffer. Woods, 48, has held posts at several AMT member companies and ran two of them, machine-tool builder Liberty Precision and, most recently, tooling-specialist Parlec. Moreover, Doug Woods has served as chairman of AMT, for the 2005-2006 term, having been a board of directors member since 2000.
