NEW YORK -- The closing of Anglo Fabrics after 52 years underscores, in many ways, the disappearance of a bygone era.
Manufacturers and designers who have been part of Seventh Avenue for more than a few seasons remember fondly when Anglo's name was a strong selling point in presenting a collection to retailers. Anglo was identified with high-quality wool fabrics and promoted itself as a designer's mill of choice.
But these industry veterans also pointed out that Anglo was a victim of the import era that has risen in the past quarter century.
