When a poisonous copperhead snake showed up in Judy and John Watkins' outside shower one recent Sunday morning, the discovery sure got many of us in the neighborhood up and going.
I had a full house and the Watkinses did too, so it was a good chance for us all to get a good look at a copperhead. And once you've seen one close up, you won't mistake this snake for anything else.
The copperhead has a very distinct tan and beige hourglass pattern down its body, and its "copper" or clay-colored head is like no other. We were close enough we could see the snake's distinct triangular head and the vertical (rather than round) pupils in its eyes, characteristics ...
