Puerto Rico has been called "The Salsa Capital of the World." The title is well-deserved, but the musical spectrum in the island is much broader and includes all genres of music. Puerto Rico has indeed turned into a musical cornucopia. What follows is a brief summary of the musical events that took place during 1997 in Puerto Rico.
The year 1997 began with the presentation of the fabulous Cuban group Los Van Van. Juan Formell and his Band played in several cities on the island, but the biggest crowd came to see them perform at the Amphitheater of the Luis Muñoz Rivera Park in San Juan.
