Feb. 18--Lower sales and the closing of five restaurants caused American Restaurant Partners, a Wichita-based limited partnership that operates 63 Pizza Hut restaurants, to lose $1.6 million last year.
The company said this week in releasing its year-end and quarterly results that the loss came on sales of $38.9 million, about 40 cents per unit. (A unit is the partnership equivalent of a share.) In 1996, sales were $40.4 million and earnings were $1.6 million or 40 cents a unit.
