A fire at Fisher Plaza late Thursday night disrupted Internet service for several companies - including one that handles online credit card transactions for hundreds of thousands of businesses - and affected Seattle television and radio broadcasts.

Rob Dunlop, vice president of operations for Fisher Communications Inc., said a fire at an electrical vault broke out around 11 p.m. Thursday, forcing the evacuation of the building near the Space Needle. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
