It was a quiet morning when I stood at Tel Hai, the "hill of life," which holds the Roaring Lion statue, the burial site of Joseph Trumpeldor and seven comrades who fell in the defense of that small Jewish settlement in 1920.
But silence did not prevail for long. This is historic and inspirational ground. Tour buses, small groups and youth movement gatherings all come here to pay homage to the memory of the eight, including Trumpeldor, whose legacy as a soldier and a symbol of armed defense of the Jewish homeland, still lives today.
