Leave it to the American Repertory Theatre and Theatre de la Jeune Lune to add Jewish undertones to the story of Don Juan.
Though the A.R.T.-Jeune Lune Moliere and Mozart-based version of "Don Juan Giovanni" never employs "teshuva," the Hebrew word for "return," Don Juan's servant, Sganarelle, does describe his master's life as "a disease" and "an outrage." And later, both he and his Mozart opera counterpart, Leporello, actually seek "redemption" for the legendary lover, who eventually pretends to beg forgiveness from his estranged wife Elvira.
