According to a recent report on the matter, it seems that South African boards perform quite well compared with their European counterparts when it comes to corporate governance.
A bi-annual study by consulting firm Heidrick & Struggles, comparing European, Middle Eastern and African boards, found that South African boards "demonstrate a high number of active committees, have a respectable level of corporate governance, better gender diversity, and are relatively larger than their counterparts in Europe and the Middle East".
