Hate crime charges have been filed against a Renton man accused of chasing another man with a knife after he heard him speaking Spanish.
In court documents, prosecutors contend that Thomas L. Parker began yelling at the other man the evening of June 27 after he overheard the man speaking to a relative by cellular phone on a balcony at the Sunset View Apartments in Renton. Parker allegedly told the man to "go back to your country" and to "speak English."
According to police, Parker then pushed the other man, who attempted to walk from the scene. As the man continued to flee, Parker threw an empty beer can at the ...
