Engineers at IBM recently said they have developed a new microprocessor that is three times faster than any other computer chip available today.
The processor, which is the first 1,000 megahertz computer chip, was designed at IBM's Austin (Texas) Research Lab. Today's fastest processors generally operate at speeds around 300 megahertz (MHz).
