Feb. 24--Union Pacific Railroad, still beset by Houston-area gridlock, has asked federal regulators for a 60-day extension of the emergency service order that the carrier once bitterly fought.
The railroad said it still believed the Surface Transportation Board was not justified in issuing its emergency decree, which opened some Texas tracks and customers to Union Pacific rivals. But, conceding that "service remains impaired in the Houston/Gulf region," Union Pacific said it should get two months beyond the order's March 15 expiration to let new anti-congestion measures ...
