The irony of launching Construction Week on the same day as a strike in the construction industry was scheduled to commence should have made it easy to predict that questions after the media briefing by Bogopane-Zulu would focus on the strike rather than the week.
Bogopane-Zulu was outspoken in her support for the wage demands of the workers, labelling them reasonable and fair.
However, in an interview after the briefing she called for a minimum wage for the entire construction industry because it would avert strikes in the future.
