FOREIGN Secretary David Miliband hailed the fallen heroes of Afghanistan yesterday saying they had died in a battle for the "future of Britain".
He spoke out after after a bloody day of fighting on Friday which saw eight British soldiers die in 24 hours.
Mr Miliband warned that Britain would not be secure until it had built security in Afghanistan.
He said it was essential to prevent Afghanistan again becoming an "incubator for terrorism" and a launch pad for attacks on the UK and the West.
