Libyan radicals become first extremists to split from al-Qaeda
London, Jul 10 (PTI) A Libyan extremist group, whose senior leaders were once crucial allies of Osama bin Laden has denounced terrorism and indiscriminate targeting of civilians, becoming the first organisation to leave al Qaeda.
The Libyan Islamic Fighting Group which once sought to overthrow Libyan leader Colonel Gaddafi, issued a statement criticising indiscriminate bombings and the targeting of civilians, saying that violence did not achieve the aims of the group in removing oppression.
