YES, Sarah Brown was right to risk offending her hosts at the G8 summit in Italy last week and turn down Italian veal, which is reared in conditions we wouldn't tolerate here, in confined spaces indoors.

But I do hope she eats British rose veal, which is a byproduct of the dairy industry. If you drink milk, then you should eat our veal, which is delicious. If you don't, then the male calves produced by dairy cows will simply be sent abroad, or turned into pet food.
