Article: Will new commission end land ownership confusion? As in the rest of Africa, the housing, construction and mortgage markets are seriously handicapped by a welter of confusing and often contradictory land tenure laws and traditions. Now a solution may be on the way, with the passage of an act establishing an overarching land commission.(GHANA)

In Ghana, as in many other African countries, the issue of land ownership and all that entails - documentation, title deeds, valuation and so on, has been badly neglected. The matter is now becoming acute as good building land is increasing in value on the one hand, while on the other, land appropriation, sometimes without the payment of compensation, is also increasing.
