Charles Fred Schwarz formerly of Palatine Funeral services for Charles Fred Schwarz of Tucson, Ariz., will be held at at 11 a.m. Friday, July 17, at Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine. Interment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Arlington Heights. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m., with Masonic Services at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. Born Oct. 15, 1925, in Chicago, he died Thursday, July 9, 2009, in Tucson. Charles was a World War II veteran, serving as a sergeant in the 106th Army Infantry, Company B, 589th Artillery and received the Medal of Honor, Bronze Star, Silver Star, Purple Heart, and the POW Award for bravery.
