THE case for public money to be ploughed in to Holyhead port's transformation into a cruise destination "largely stacks up", the Assembly government revealed last night.
Holyhead is on the brink of submitting business proposals for public sector cash to help develop its docking facilities, the Commons Welsh Affairs committee was told.
Officials from the Assembly and Westminster have held discussions with port bosses over plans for investment to help it achieve its plans for attracting more than 30 cruise ships a year by 2013.
