One of the most important roles a manager has is establishing and maintaining workplace rituals that solicit employee input and keep lines of communication open.
Many managers were eager to be promoted into management positions to focus on the bigger picture and leave more routine work behind. Thus, managers are often surprised to find that effective management involves a lot of attention to detail. When managers are unaware of the need to take care of routine tasks or gives these tasks a low priority, the office often suffers from morale problems and high stress.
