NEW YORK -- While a shift in American mores toward furs and increasing designer licenses in the market have been positive bellwethers for the industry, some fur proponents are wondering if, from a manufacturing viewpoint, the demand is beginning to outweigh the supply.
In recent years, there have been so many fur outerwear collections licensed to vendors here -- for instance Louis Dell'Olio, Narciso Rodriguez, Marc Jacobs, Donald Deal and now Zang Toi have all signed deals -- that brokers and consultants say the pool of available, qualified manufacturers is quickly drying up.
So they're heading north.
