Sardinia's Costa Smeralda, or the "Emerald Coast," is best known to yachtsmen for the biennial Sardinia Cup and Rolex Swan regattas. Others may recognize it as one of the world's ultimate see-and-be-seen destinations. The Aga Khan had a summer palace in Porto Cervo and was responsible for developing these beautiful cruising grounds in the Western Mediterranean. Just 10 miles to the north is the French-owned island of Corsica, the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte.
