Washington state resident Alan Jackson's first impression of Eugene wasn't so great.
But when he and his family pedal out of town today and continue their cross-country trip on the bicycles that brought them here, he'll take with him mostly positive feelings about their longer-than-expected visit to Lane County.
A Eugene woman who heard that the Jacksons had their Novara Randonee touring bike stolen Monday - after they left it unattended and unlocked for a few minutes outside a Safeway on Coburg Road - found the two-wheeler and helped police return it to the family on Wednesday morning.
