Bonitas Medical Fund trustees have assured its 566 000 members that it is business as usual at the scheme, despite a court-appointed investigation into their activities.
The Council for Medical Schemes said this week there was no reason for members or brokers to panic about the investigation, which concerned its governance and not its finances, as the scheme remained stable and financially sound.
The scheme has reserves in the region of R2 billion and a solvency level (reserves as a percentage of contributions) of about 45 percent - well in excess of the 25 percent required by law.
