Mar. 17--The craft looks like an airplane, travels primarily on water like a boat, but is neither. It's the Xtreme Xplorer, and the developers of the half-boat, half-plane hybrid hope their venture will prove xtremely successful.
The Xplorer's design stems from Soviet war machines dubbed "Caspian Sea Monsters" -- huge, fast craft used in anti-submarine warfare.
Until recently, much of the information about "wing-in-ground" craft, like the monsters and the Xplorer, was secret.
