A-Z of African writing: A guide to modern African writing in English compiled by: Robin Malan

(Shuter) R225

review: Chris Dunton

To begin with, I wonder, can this book really be as flawed as an earlier review by Percy Zvomuya claims?

After all, in BOOK SA - News Malan defends himself against Zvomuya's main charge, regarding the omission of some major authors.

Though, to my mind, Malan's explanation for omitting Ayi Kwei Armah - that he declined to co-operate in the project - is pretty bizarre.

Why would an author's co-operation be a factor in compiling a primer of this kind?
