The Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival opened its 2009 season Sunday with a concert anchored by a Brahms piano trio, further adorned by two enticing works by Debussy and Caplet, and rounded off by music for cello and piano by Debussy and Faura. St. Francis Auditorium in the New Mexico Museum of Art, the group's main performing home, was well-filled for the event, which repeats today at 6 p.m.

Debussy's Chansons de Bilitis and Caplet's Conte fantastique, or fantastic fairy tale, date respectively from 1900-01 and 1923. Both pieces are evocative and entertaining -- more than salon music, though something less than timeless masterworks.
