On July 20, 1969, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first two humans to land on the moon, as an estimated 600 million people -- the largest television audience in history -- watched in awe. They spent 15 hours on the lunar surface -- including 2-1/2 hours outside of the lunar module -- and returned with 46 pounds of moon rocks.
