TOKYO, July 22 Asia Pulse - Altech Corp. (TSE:4641), a Japanese staffing service that provides engineers to the manufacturing sector, likely turned a group pretax profit of just over 500 million yen (US$5.3 million) in the January-June period, beating its earlier forecast for a loss of 24 million yen (US$256,296).

The profit figure still represents a 36 per cent decline from the same period of 2008.

The company was helped by efforts to control personnel expenses, including the salaries paid to engineers waiting for placement.
