Laima Liucija Andrikiene, who was already a member of the European Parliament's Human Rights Subcommittee (DROI) during the previous legislative period, was appointed as the subcommittee's chairwoman, on 20 July in Brussels. She will head up its 29 members (plus 20 alternates).

The former minister for trade and industry of Lithuania (1996) and subsequently minister for European affairs (1996-1998) has an impressive CV.
