I know a lot about pack rats, having been married to one for forty years. You wouldn't believe what my wife drags in. The last treasure was a sauerkraut cutter. In forty years she hasn't made one ounce of sauerkraut and she isn't going to make any more in the next forty. But she had to have that old sauerkraut cutter. You see what I mean?

But I'm really an expert on the kind of things four-legged pack rats carry away. The most surprising theft took place in broad daylight-surprising because pack rats are nocturnal.
