LEOMINSTER - Belden Inc., a St. Louis-based maker of cables and components used to transmit signals, plans to shutter its plant on Mohawk Drive and eliminate the jobs of about 170 workers by July 2010.
The company said yesterday that it will transfer the production of wire and cable products to other Belden facilities. A small amount will move to Alpha Wire Co. on Tolman Avenue in Leominster, and the rest will go to plants in Monticello, Ky., and Nogales, Mexico, said Gene Pfeiffer, Belden manager of corporate communications.
