In the preface to New National and Post-Colonial Literatures, Bruce King writes, "Both the beginner and specialist should find much to think about." While this may be generally true (given that the specialist may always find new ways of thinking about her or his specialization), one must not be diverted from what appears to be the essential intent of this collection, hidden in its subtitle, "An Introduction." And, while appreciating the contributions of "acknowledged leaders in their fields" (primly cleansed of jargon-ridden theorizing for introductory consumption), one may perhaps be forgiven for wondering how many more introductory primers we need, for an area that is now ...
