NINE FOREIGN suppliers, including Vietnamese and Thai firms, turned up at a Philippine government rice tender on Wednesday, offering to sell the grain in a price range from $472.72-$528 per metric ton for delivery in August to September.

The state grain agency National Food Authority (NFA) was looking to buy 75,000 MT of milled rice, 25% brokens, at the tender. Total volume of rice offered by suppliers reached 311,000 MT.

Global trading firm Toepfer International made the lowest offer of $472.72/MT, cost and freight (C&F), for 10,000 MT of rice from Pakistan.
