DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Although Walgreens is scaling back its store development program to focus on remodels and other areas of investment, the company enjoys a tremendous share position in the nation's top 75 drug store markets. What is even more impressive is that its dominant market position has been achieved almost entirely through organic growth rather than buying share through acquisitions.
