DEERFIELD, Ill. -- The millions of dollars in losses from theft suffered by both retailers and manufacturers propelled Walgreens to partner with other industry leaders several years ago to form an Industry Loss Prevention team.
Members include CVS Caremark Corp., Rite Aid Corp., Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Procter & Gamble Co. and GlaxoSmithKline PLC.
"We meet on a quarterly basis to discuss the challenges we mutually face and try to have each side understand the other, so we don't introduce something onerous to a manufacturer, and vice versa," says Kenneth Amos, Walgreens' divisional vice president of loss prevention.
